A Storm Team 10 Weather Alert is in effect as a powerful storm system bears down on Southern New England. The main headline this afternoon is the threat of strong, potentially damaging wind gusts across parts of the area. The National Weather Service has expanded the High Wind Warning to include all communities south and east of I-95. The change in the forecast is due to guidance suggesting milder temperatures at the surface, which would allow for those 60 mph wind gusts to mix down to the surface more easily. In addition to the gusty winds, periods of heavy rain impact the area for a good portion of the day. That being said, rainfall should be manageable, about 0.5-1.0″. The worst of the storm comes to an end after 3 PM, once the cold front passes.<\/p>\n
A dry, cooler weather pattern returns for the weekend, with high temperatures on Saturday in the upper 30s and mid-40s by Sunday. A light snow\/rain mix is possible on Tuesday, with minimal accumulation expected the way it looks now.<\/p>\n
