FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) \u2013 It was a record-breaking season in the area\u2019s Salvation Army\u2019s Angel Tree distribution.<\/p>\n

It all wrapped up on Friday, with a total of 2,000 people having their Christmas wishes made.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dena Smith, Core Officer at The Salvation Army, said this year they received a high number of donations. She said it was a step-up in a way they have never seen before.<\/p>\n

Some of that can be credited to social media, where Angel Tree shopping videos have been trending, encouraging others to step up as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Because of the increase in donations, the Salvation Army was able to expand its offerings, according to 21 Alive News.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Each child was able to receive a new coat and a new pair of shoes, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
