The next generation of Wisconsin golf is officially on the clock.<\/p>\n

The Team Wisconsin Committee announced this week the eight boys and eight girls who were named to the 2026 Team Wisconsin roster as part of the USGA\u2019s U.S. National Development Program<\/a> (USNDP).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly excited to begin this next chapter with Team Wisconsin and be part of the U.S. National Development Program,\u201d said Thomas Fazio, who will serve as team captain in addition to his role as Tournament Manager at the Wisconsin State Golf Association. \u201cThis program creates an exceptional opportunity to support our state\u2019s top junior golfers by providing resources, coaching and competitive experiences to help them grow both on and off the course. We\u2019re proud of this group of athletes and look forward to helping them continue their development as they pursue the highest levels of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

The roster was selected by the\u00a0Team Wisconsin committee based on players\u2019 performances throughout the 2025 season. The committee includes representatives from the WSGA and the Wisconsin PGA.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wisconsin is one of 30 states in the USNDP\u2019s State Junior Team program \u2013 designed to expand, strengthen and diversify the American junior golf pipeline. The USGA announced 14 new states to the program in October of 2025, with goals to expand to all 50 states by 2033.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The coaches for the Wisconsin teams are Molly Braid, a teaching professional at Westmoor Country Club, and Barrett Kelpin, a teaching professional at Bishops Bay Country Club. All athletes named to a state team will receive at least two days of in-person athlete development per year, access to webinars led by the USNDP\u2019s coaching and athlete development team, and consideration for USNDP-sponsored tournament exemptions, among other benefits.<\/p>\n

Announced in 2023, the USNDP is designed to ensure that American golf is the global leader in the game by focusing on six key pillars: talent identification, access to competition, national teams, athlete resources, player development and relations, and financial support.<\/p>\n

The State Junior Team Program focuses on creating a developmentally appropriate, aspirational pathway for athletes within each state to compete at higher levels of the game. The U.S. National Development Program is supported by philanthropic giving and secured resources to fulfill the USGA\u2019s commitment to providing pathways to elite levels of the game, regardless of financial situations.<\/p>\n

To be eligible, a player must be a U.S. citizen, meet state residency requirements, cannot be enrolled in college, must be 13 years old by Jan. 1 and not reach his\/her 19th birthday by July 19 of the year in which they would compete on a State Junior Team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The next generation of Wisconsin golf is officially on the clock.
