{"id":361472,"date":"2025-12-21T07:51:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T07:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/361472\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T07:51:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T07:51:31","slug":"ranger-immediately-regrets-dropping-gloves-gets-dummied-by-flyers-nic-deslauriers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/361472\/","title":{"rendered":"Ranger Immediately Regrets Dropping Gloves, Gets Dummied By Flyers&#8217; Nic Deslauriers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe take a look before you drop the mitts<\/p>\n<p>PublishedDecember 20, 2025 4:43 PM EST\u2022UpdatedDecember 20, 2025 4:43 PM EST<\/p>\n<p>FacebookTwitterEmailCopy Link<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Things always tend to get a little heated when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/new-york-rangers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">New York Rangers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/philadelphia-flyers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> meet up, but you don&#8217;t want to let that heat blind your decision-making.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">You might not realize you&#8217;re about to chuck knuckles with one of the toughest players in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/nhl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">NHL<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Rangers forward Brennan Othmann chased a puck into the corner, where he was promptly met by Flyers tough guy Nic Deslauriers, who delivered a hard check into the boards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">READ: <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/sports\/florida-panthers-wont-stop-being-scumbags-anytime-soon?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">FLORIDA PANTHERS WON&#8217;T STOP BEING SCUMBAGS ANYTIME SOON<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Deslauriers got a boarding penalty on the play, and you can understand why Othmann immediately threw his gloves off the second he got to his feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">However, he instantly regretted this decision as Deslauriers unloaded a barrage of brutal punches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Good lord, Nic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">This legendary quote from The Simpsons immediately came to mind:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/the-simpsons-stop-hes-already-dead-JCAZQKoMefkoX6TyTb\" class=\"giphy__iframe\" height=\"100%\" style=\"position:absolute;\" loading=\"lazy\" data-v-594c3bc8=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The great Brian Boucher on the Flyers broadcast said the same thing I said to my wife (I think she had tuned out, which is fair), and that is that I don&#8217;t think Othmann had any idea who hit him when he decided to drop the mitts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">All he knew was that he had taken a borderline at best check, and he wanted revenge\u2026 the only problem was that the guy who threw the check happened to be one of the best fighters in hockey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Othmann took a seat for five minutes while Deslauriers was slapped with his own five-minute major for fighting plus a minor for boarding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">But, unfortunately for the Orange and Black \u2014 who were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/sports\/flyers-broadcaster-tim-saunders-hot-mic-suspension\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">down a radio broadcaster on Saturday<\/a>; Free Tim Saunders! \u2014 the Rangers got the last laugh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The Blueshirts battled back from being down 3-1 to tie the game at 4-4 and send it to overtime.
