{"id":361562,"date":"2025-12-21T08:53:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T08:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/361562\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T08:53:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T08:53:09","slug":"video-shows-man-woman-throwing-rocks-at-elephant-seal-resting-on-point-reyes-beach-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/361562\/","title":{"rendered":"Video shows man, woman throwing rocks at elephant seal resting on Point Reyes beach, officials say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Park Service is asking the public for help identifying two people captured on video allegedly throwing rocks at an elephant seal on a Point Reyes National Seashore beach.<\/p>\n<p>Video footage from the park\u2019s Chimney Rock livestream on Dec. 6, shows a woman and man throwing multiple rocks at an elephant seal resting on the beach, the agency announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=1320449160122875&amp;set=a.222114766622992\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook post Friday<\/a>. Several of the rocks appeared to strike the seal, park officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Elephant seals are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and other National Park Service wildlife regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The woman in the video was described as an adult with black hair, who was wearing a white baseball cap and a red and dark-colored jacket and jeans.
