He spent just one season in Ann Arbor.<\/p>\n<p>The opening in Columbia came into focus when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/kirby-moore-75318\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kirby Moore<\/a>\u00a0was hired as the next head coach at Washington State Cougars. Moore departs Missouri after three highly successful seasons running the Tigers\u2019 offense.<\/p>\n<p>During Moore\u2019s tenure, Missouri compiled a 29\u20139 overall record and won back-to-back bowl games, including the 2023 Cotton Bowl and the 2024 Music City Bowl. Since the start of the 2023 season, the Tigers averaged 32.2 points per game with Moore calling plays, establishing one of the SEC\u2019s most consistent offenses.<\/p>\n<p>With Moore now gone, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz made it clear his immediate focus remains on postseason preparation before turning fully to the search.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m gonna shock the fans and say I\u2019m going to do it,\u201d Drinkwitz joked during Tuesday\u2019s media availability. \u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve been adamant with this with my team and with our players. Everybody who\u2019s in this building\u2019s focus has to be \u2018what do we have to do to win the bowl game?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chip Lindsey going from Michigan to Missouri as OC<\/p>\n<p>Drinkwitz added that once the Tigers finalize their offensive preparation, attention will shift toward identifying the right fit: \u201cI\u2019ve got a group of names and I\u2019ve been looking at lists,\u201d Drinkwitz said. \u201cSo we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey\u2019s r\u00e9sum\u00e9 aligns closely with that description. In addition to his current role at Michigan, he previously served as offensive coordinator at North Carolina during quarterback Drake Maye\u2019s breakout seasons, led UCF\u2019s offense and was head coach at Troy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His familiarity with big-time college football and extensive play-calling background could make him a natural fit.
