And I felt great compassion and sisterhood with Gwen and Tawny [the fictional character she plays in the world of Galaxy Quest].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAdding that she was \u201cfortunate\u201d to have worked with an \u201camazing group\u201d of co-stars including Tim Allen, Tony Shalhoub and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/alan-rickman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alan-rickman\" data-tag=\"alan-rickman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Rickman<\/a>, the Avatar actress said, \u201cI wish they put out a director\u2019s cut of the movie because, at the last minute, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dreamworks\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dreamworks\" data-tag=\"dreamworks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DreamWorks<\/a> decided to release the movie with some of the more sophisticated scenes cut that Alan was in because it needed a kids\u2019 movie to go up against [Columbia Pictures\u2019] Stuart Little. And why they don\u2019t put out the movie again with more of his very, very strange and wonderful scenes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOf the long-discussed sequel that never came to pass, Weaver said, \u201c[Co-writer] Bob Gordon had written a second one, and he wouldn\u2019t give it to DreamWorks because he just felt they\u2019d missed the boat on ours. And so we always meant to do a sequel, and then with Alan passing away, we just lost heart. But it was a great privilege to do this love letter to actors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDirected by Dean Parisot, the parody and loving homage to series like Star Trek centers on a group of alumni of a space TV show who are unwittingly drawn into an intergalactic conflict by aliens who believe their imaginary series to be a depiction of real life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThough sequel discussions have circulated prior to and following Rickman\u2019s death as a result of pancreatic cancer in 2016, potential follow-ups have since stalled.
