\n\tKumail Nanjiani<\/a> got candid about his experience working on the critically panned Marvel<\/a> movie \u201cEternals<\/a>\u201d on a recent episode of NPR\u2019s Wild Card<\/a> with Rachel Martin, saying that the film changed how he approached work \u2014 something he\u2019s \u201cvery grateful for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m very proud of my performance in it,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s rare to say, but I actually wouldn\u2019t change anything about how I am in that movie.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor and comedian played the superhero Kingo in the 2021 fantasy film alongside other stars Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan and Angelina Jolie. Despite the stacked cast, the film opened to disappointing box office and lukewarm reviews from critics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the podcast, Nanjiani went on to share his biggest takeaways from the experience, including the importance of separating \u201cmy experience of something versus the result of something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMost times if I\u2019m acting in something, I do not get to decide how good it\u2019s gonna be,\u201d the \u201cSilicon Valley\u201d star explained. \u201cI do not get to choose how the audience is going to receive it. I do not get to choose how much money it\u2019s going to make. I do not get to choose what the reviewers are going to think of it. What I do get to choose is whether or not I learned from it, you know? So to me, that\u2019s been a thing that I have to remind myself over and over and over and over \u2013 is that a failure is not a failure. It truly is an opportunity to learn\u2026 What I can control is learning from every job and taking a joyful approach to every job.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the past, Nanjiani has been open about his feelings around the project, discussing how the negative reception of \u201cEternals\u201d led him to therapy<\/a> on fellow stand-up comedian Mike Birbiglia\u2019s \u201cWorking It Out\u201d podcast<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI signed on for six movies,\u201d said Nanjiani. \u201cThey make you sign up for all this stuff\u2026 and then none of that happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
