Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said Seider\u2019s defensive play is leading to more offense.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s defending really well and he\u2019s not busy. He\u2019s not all over the place. He\u2019s just nice and calm, reading plays, killing them,\u201d McLellan said. \u201cAnd all of a sudden, he\u2019s got some energy to go on offense. He\u2019s picking his spots well. I think he\u2019s using his shot a lot more. He\u2019s not necessarily deferring to playmaking. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe rang one off the bar on the power play. In the past, I think he would have been looking off for another play, but he actually used the shot, and he\u2019s got a real good one when he gets it off.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 6-3 Seider and 6-6 Edvinsson has formed a strong top defense pairing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t give up a whole lot, tough to get around,\u201d Talbot said. \u201cThey got great sticks around the net. They box out. If there is a rebound laying there, they clear it for us. They block big shots on the PK and they contribute offensively. Can\u2019t say enough good things about those two.\u201d<\/p>\n
Said McLellan: \u201cTheir ability to defend is what really helps our team right now. Their length. Just when you think you\u2019re in trouble, all of a sudden, Simon stick\u2019s coming through and breaking something up, or Mo\u2019s doing that. They can handle heavy minutes, aggressive minutes. So, we\u2019re happy with their play.
