Few players have had more memorable years than Jannik Sinner in 2025, as he continues to make headlines.<\/p>\n

The world number one picked up his third Grand Slam title in January when Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev<\/a> in the Australian Open final.<\/p>\n

Things soon took a turn, however, as Sinner received a three-month ban<\/a> from tennis, forcing him to miss several Masters 1000 tournaments.<\/p>\n

Returning in Rome, the Italian quickly rediscovered his form and qualified for the French Open<\/a> final in just his second tournament back.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, he couldn\u2019t quite get over the line, as Sinner lost to Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> in a five-set thriller on Court Philippe Chatrier.<\/p>\n

Getting his revenge a month later, Sinner defeated Alcaraz<\/a> in the Wimbledon final, as fans celebrated his big win at SW19.<\/p>\n

The public perception of Sinner<\/a> had taken a big hit after his doping scandal, but he was on the road to recovery in 2025 before he made a move recently that has been widely criticized.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Sinner rehired Umberto Ferrara<\/a> as his fitness coach, having previously dismissed him in 2024, for his involvement in the positive Clostebol test.<\/p>\n

Fans online have criticized the move, as has former Wimbledon<\/a> doubles champion Paul McNamee, who took to X to share his thoughts.<\/p>\n

Removing Ferrara and Giacomo Naldi from his team last fall was a significant moment in the Sinner doping saga, as it seemed as though he was moving on from the incident.<\/p>\n

Bringing Ferrara back into the fold feels like a step back, as Sinner\u2019s critics now question the real reason behind their original split.<\/p>\n

In the world number one\u2019s defence, there was a vacancy within his team, as Sinner had split with Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio<\/a> before Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

However, as McNamee rightly mentioned, Sinner could have chosen anyone to fill that role, and doing so with someone with as much \u2018baggage\u2019 as Ferrara seems unwise.<\/p>\n

Ferrara has joined Sinner in Monte-Carlo this week as he enjoys a block of training before travelling to North America for the US Open<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

Sinner will skip the Canadian Open<\/a> but will return in Cincinnati, where he\u2019ll look to defend the title he won in 2024, and add to his Masters 1000 tally.<\/p>\n

Can Jannik Sinner win a Masters 1000 title in 2025?<\/p>\n

The Italian\u2019s three-month suspension derailed his Masters 1000 chances earlier in the year, as he was forced to miss the first four tournaments.<\/p>\n

Sinner will still have chances later in the year to pick up a Masters 1000 title, but time is starting to run out for the 23-year-old in 2025.<\/p>\n

Using Grand Slams to measure success, Sinner is the third most successful active player behind Novak Djokovic and Alcaraz, but at the Masters 1000 level, the world number one trails a few more players.<\/p>\n

He could yet achieve that goal in 2025, if he were to defend his titles in Cincinnati and Shanghai, and add a Paris Masters<\/a> title to his collection.<\/p>\n

A trip to Cincinnati is first up, as Sinner searches for his second consecutive title in Ohio, having beaten Frances Tiafoe<\/a> in the 2024 final.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Only time will tell if the Italian can repeat the feat in 2025, but it will certainly be worth tuning in for.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Cincinnati Open is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 4.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
