The New York Yankees<\/a> come into the offseason looking to fill a few holes. On eof their biggest will be to find a starting pitcher or two to stabilize the rotation until Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon can return.<\/p>\n

Cole underwent Tommy John surgery at the beginning of the 2025 season, and Rodon had surgery to remove loose bodies and a bone spur in his elbow. Rodon is expected back sometime in April or May, and Cole has his sights set for a late May or June return.<\/p>\n

However, that is not the only hole the club has. They could also use some help up the middle and need to figure out if Cody Bellinger will return to the Bronx in 2026.<\/p>\n

Another player the Yankees will start the 2026 season without will be Anthony Volpe. The shortstop will be recovering from the labrum surgery he received in October and is not expected to return until May.<\/p>\n

The club was already wary of Volpe before his surgery. Now, they need to find someone to handle things up the middle until he can return. This is where Willi Castro comes in.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer<\/a> believes he would be a great addition for the Yankees.<\/p>\n

“As a defensive presence, though, there aren’t many players who can match the sheer usefulness of Castro. He can play all throutfield spots and three positions on the infield.”<\/p>\n

Not only can Castro handle shortstop or second base, but he could also handle the outfield as well. This just allows manager Aaron Boone to be more flexible with his potential lineups.<\/p>\n

But the Yankees are not the only team listed here. Rymer also suggests that Castro could be a great addition to the San Diego Padres<\/a> and Seattle Mariners<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n
