\n\tChevy Chase<\/a> is addressing his exclusion from \u201cSNL50: The Anniversary Special.\u201d In CNN Films\u2019 upcoming documentary, \u201cI\u2019m Chevy Chase and You\u2019re Not\u201d (via People<\/a>), the original \u201cSaturday Night Live<\/a>\u201d cast member admitted he was \u201churt\u201d by not being included in the milestone anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWell, it was kind of upsetting actually,\u201d Chase said. \u201cThis is probably the first time I\u2019m saying it. But I expected that I would\u2019ve been on the stage too with all the other actors. When Garrett [Morris] and Laraine [Newman] went on the stage there, I was curious as to why I didn\u2019t. No one asked me to. Why was I left aside?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChase, the first anchor and co-creator of \u201cWeekend Update,\u201d also expressed confusion over \u201cSNL50\u2019s\u201d segment of the satirical news program, saying, \u201cWhy was Bill Murray there and why was I not? I don\u2019t have an answer for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI did bring it up once in a text to Lorne and then took it back,\u201d Chase said, referring to \u201cSNL\u201d creator Lorne Michaels. \u201cI said, \u2018Okay, I take it back, silly.\u2019 But it\u2019s not that silly. Somebody\u2019s made a bad mistake there. I don\u2019t know who it was, but somebody made a mistake. They should\u2019ve had me on that stage. It hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChase attended the 50th anniversary special<\/a> in February of this year. According to the CNN documentary, the anniversary show was initially set to feature more of Chase, with the actor\u2019s wife, Jayni Chase, explaining that people \u201ctold Chevy up until that day that there were two bits, they were going back and forth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd then, all of the sudden, \u2018No, there\u2019s no bit,’\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere were a couple versions of [\u2018Weekend Update\u2019] and we went back and forth on that,\u201d Michaels\u00a0said in the doc. \u201cThere was also a caution from somebody that I don\u2019t want to name that Chevy, you know, wasn\u2019t as focused.\u201d<\/p>\n
