Sources said that during a board of governors meeting Friday, the league \u201cpresented several ideas around potential modifications to rules regarding draft pick protections, the draft lottery and other possible approaches.\u201d The league <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/12\/21\/nba-changes-policy-on-teams-reporting-injuries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/12\/21\/nba-changes-policy-on-teams-reporting-injuries\/\">rolled out new policies<\/a> Friday to \u201ccombat insider information and performance manipulation\u201d in the wake of federal indictments of Heat G Terry Rozier, Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and former NBAer Damon Jones. But the league also is \u201cincreasing its focus on tanking,\u201d due to its \u201ctie to the injury reporting rules and how those were exploited by gamblers seeking inside information.\u201d Sources said that \u201cmultiple ideas were proposed as a brainstorming measure to combat tanking\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/47398198\/sources-nba-looking-new-ways-prevent-teams-tanking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ESPN.com, 12\/23<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-leagues-and-governing-bodies \">Attorneys for Rozier are \u201casking a federal judge to dismiss the two felony charges he\u2019s facing for his alleged role\u201d in the gambling scandal.
