Kirby Moore<\/a> is looking towards Missouri<\/a> as he builds his staff at Washington State<\/a>. The former Tigers offensive coordinator turned Cougars head coach is poaching some of Eli Drinkwitz\u2019s<\/a> assistants. <\/p>\n

Moore is expected to hire the Tigers\u2019 tight ends coach Derham Cato<\/a> as part of his staff at Washington State, MizzouToday<\/a> confirmed<\/a>. Assistant offensive line coach Jack Abercrombie<\/a> will join the duo, as well.<\/p>\n

Moore is hoping to build the Cougars into a winner. He was born in Prosser, Washington, so it\u2019s a bit of a homecoming for him. He also played receiver at\u00a0Boise State<\/a>\u00a0between 2009 and 2013.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old Moore, the younger brother of former Broncos quarterback and first-year\u00a0New Orleans Saints\u00a0head coach\u00a0Kellen Moore<\/a>, just wrapped his third season as the Tigers\u2019 offensive coordinator. He directed the SEC\u2019s top-ranked rushing attack behind superstar Mizzou running back\u00a0Ahmad Hardy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moore replaces\u00a0Jimmy Rogers<\/a>\u00a0as the Wazzu head coach after Rogers\u00a0was hired at<\/a>\u00a0Iowa State<\/a>\u00a0last Friday,<\/a> following just one season in Pullman. That opportunity opened when former Cyclones head coach\u00a0Matt Campbell<\/a>\u00a0was hired at\u00a0Penn State<\/a>\u00a0late last week. Rogers led Washington State to a 6-6 record in 2025 following a two-year stint as\u00a0South Dakota State\u2018s head coach between 2023-24.<\/p>\n

Kirby Moore goes home after three-year coaching stint at Mizzou<\/p>\n

Following a five-year playing career at\u00a0Boise State\u00a0(2009-13), Moore got into coaching at the\u00a0College of Idaho\u00a0in 2014 before spending two years as a graduate assistant at\u00a0Washington<\/a>\u00a0from 2015-16. Moore would spend six years at\u00a0Fresno State<\/a>, first as the receivers coach under both\u00a0Jeff Tedford<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Kalen DeBoer<\/a>,\u00a0before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 after DeBoer took the head coaching job at\u00a0Washington. Moore would join the SEC as\u00a0Missouri\u2018s offensive coordinator in early 2023, where he saw his annual salary improve to $1.5 million ahead of the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

Under Moore\u2019s direction, Mizzou had the SEC\u2019s fifth-ranked total offense and sixth-ranked scoring offense in 2023 when the Tigers averaged 434.3 yards and 32.5 points per game that season. This season, Moore directed the SEC\u2019s top-ranked rushing offense, averaging 234.1 yards per game behind Hardy, who led the nation, averaging 130 rushing yards per game and ranked second nationally with 1,560 yards and 16 rushing scores. Moore\u2019s Mizzou offense also ranked sixth in the SEC in both total offense and scoring offense, averaging 429.3 yards and 32.2 points per game in 2025.<\/p>\n
