an interview with Rolling Stone<\/a> published Wednesday, the actor, 55, revealed that he came up with the concept of having a surprise guest on his \u201cSmartLess\u201d podcast without telling the other two hosts, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.<\/p>\nBut in April, Bateman and Hayes surprised Arnett by having Poehler, 54, as their guest.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, that was a great one,\u201d he gushed about the episode. \u201cI mean, Amy texted Sean and me this morning saying, \u2018We all got nominated for Golden Globes, let\u2019s party.\u2019 And then she said, \u2018I don\u2019t have Bateman\u2019s number, that\u2019s probably for the best.\u2019 That was the text.\u201d<\/p>\n
In fact, his only qualm about the episode was that their children \u2014 Archie, 17, and Abel, 15 \u2014 kept the secret from him.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the more alarming parts about her coming on our podcast was that my sons lied to me. That\u2019s the part that unnerved me,\u201d he said before specifying that they \u201comitted the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
But in April, Bateman and Hayes surprised Arnett by having Poehler as their guest.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, that was a great one,\u201d he gushed about the episode, noting that Poehler had even sent him and Hayes a funny text that morning.<\/p>\n

However, when Abel apologized for knowing and not telling his dad, an understanding Arnett responded, \u201cIt\u2019s OK, dude.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked whether Poehler\u2019s appearance on the show \u201ccleared up a lot of speculation about [their] relationship,\u201d Arnett replied, \u201cPeople think that they know. Over the years, I\u2019ve read so many opinions people have. It\u2019s f\u2013king hilarious to me how much s\u2013t is just made up, and they have zero idea. It\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, you think you know what my life is?’\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cArrested Development\u201d star went on to detail his complex relationship with the concept of fame.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, yes, it\u2019s part of celebrity culture that we all participate in. And by the way, [celebrity] has been good to me. So I don\u2019t want to s\u2013t on it,\u201d he made sure to note, adding that he still \u201cstruggle[s] with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arnett was asked whether Poehler\u2019s appearance on the show \u201ccleared up a lot of speculation about [their] relationship.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n

Arnett acknowledged that he\u2019s \u201cnot the most famous dude in the world by any stretch\u201d and argued that people don\u2019t \u201creally care that much\u201d about what\u2019s going on in his personal life.<\/p>\n
While he never sought fame in his pursuit of becoming an actor, he knows the two go hand in hand.<\/p>\n
