Holland, president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is in the hospital for treatment related to ongoing health conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHe is receiving expert care and is with loved ones during this Christmas holiday,\u201d according to a\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/statement-on-health-of-president-jeffrey-r-holland\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/statement-on-health-of-president-jeffrey-r-holland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">statement\u00a0<\/a>released Wednesday afternoon by the Church of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cPresident Holland and his family express gratitude for the many prayers offered on his behalf,\u201d the statement said, \u201cand extend greetings of faith and peace during this season that commemorates the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement today about the health of President Jeffrey R. Holland:<\/p>\n<p>President Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is currently hospitalized for treatment related to ongoing health\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4YKDTcTfxs\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/4YKDTcTfxs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (@Ch_JesusChrist) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ch_JesusChrist\/status\/2003928021359882403?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">December 24, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>President Holland recently appeared in the church\u2019s Christmas devotional, which was taped earlier this fall.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This Christmas, may I invite you to be, however briefly, a family for someone who is otherwise alone. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iOE5rJaTJb\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/iOE5rJaTJb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeffrey R. Holland (@HollandJeffreyR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HollandJeffreyR\/status\/1997850680405664238?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">December 8, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>President Holland was excused from his duties as an apostle from April to June 2023 after he needed treatment for health issues that included a COVID-19 diagnosis and a kidney condition needing dialysis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Then in August 2023, his health worsened and he was hospitalized. He said later that he was on death\u2019s door for weeks. His recovery was described by Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve as a miracle that included divine intervention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Later that fall, he was ordained as acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve, and he since has made international and domestic trips.
