A college football star has gone viral after he produced a humiliating error and tackled his own teammate on the goal line during a bowl game disaster.<\/p>\n

The shocking blunder occurred during UNLV’s 17-10 loss to Ohio in the Frisco Bowl on Tuesday, when the Rebels were trailing with just five minutes left in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0UNLV were desperately searching for a touchdown and had a golden opportunity late in the fourth when they found themselves facing third-and-goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, things did not go to plan as tight end Matt Brynes came into motion pre-snap and moved across the line of scrimmage as the pass was hiked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brynes was intended to clear a path for running back Keyvone Lee to power through and score, however, it soon turned into a hilarious mix-up.<\/p>\n

Brynes had miscalculated his path and ended up wiping out teammate Lee behind the line of scrimmage.<\/p>\n

Running back Keyvone Lee was sent flying as their routine ended in embarrassing fashion<\/p>\n

Cameras quickly cut to Rebels head coach Dan Mullen, who looked equally confused as he did frustrated.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the Rebels, the embarrassing blunder did not entirely ruin the drive.<\/p>\n

On the next play, quarterback Anthony Colandrea kept hold of the ball, on fourth-and-goal, and managed to scramble his way into the end zone from two yards out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The score narrowed the gap to 17-10, giving UNLV a glimmer of hope in the closing stages of the Frisco Bowl.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the comeback was not to be as Ohio took control of the game’s final minutes before successfully running out the clock.<\/p>\n

It marked the first time in 35 games that UNLV were held to under 20 points in a game, in what turned out to be a frustrating night for the offense.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That 35-game run had been the longest active streak of its kind in the nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Ohio, the victory\u00a0was overseen by interim head coach and defensive coordinator John Hauser,\u00a0following the controversial firing of head coach Brian Smith.<\/p>\n

On December 18th, Ohio University fired\u00a0Smith after he was accused of having an extramarital affair with an undergraduate student.<\/p>\n

In a letter dated December 12 to Smith and obtained by the Columbus Dispatch<\/a>, OU President Lori Stewart Gonzalez claimed that the coach had admitted to engaging in extramarital affairs, including one with an unnamed student.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The letter reportedly accused Smith of carrying on the relationship in part on campus, at the Ohio University Inn.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Smith’s attorney, Rex Elliott, strongly denied the accusation, writing in a responding letter on Tuesday that ‘Coach Smith didn’t participate in an extramarital affair and you know it,’ per FOS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The lawyer claimed that the relationship, which he said lasted four months, began after Smith and his now-ex-wife, Liane, had separated and divorce proceedings were already underway.\u00a0<\/p>\n
