\n\tFollowing her Oscar nominated breakout role, Kate Hudson<\/a> had the opportunity to take on Marvel<\/a>, but the Spider-Verse had other plans.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Golden Globe-winning actress recently revealed that she passed on the role of Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi<\/a>\u2018s Spider-Man<\/a> (2002), a role that ultimately went to Kirsten Dunst<\/a> for all three movies in the franchise.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYes, I did,\u201d she said on Watch What Happens Live<\/a>. \u201cAnd now that I look back, it\u2019s one of those things where I look back like, \u2018That would have been nice to be in a Spider-Man<\/a> movie.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHudson added, \u201cAt the same time, I did a movie called Four Feathers. I got to meet Heath Ledger, who became a very good friend, and I got an experience that I would have never had. So part of me is like, \u2018Life happens exactly in the way it\u2019s supposed to.\u2019 And so I\u2019m grateful for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, Dunst admitted, \u201cI do look at that [movie] and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, it would\u2019ve been fun to be her.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHudson also agrees that the Bring It On actress was the right choice for the role. \u201cWhen people say these things, it doesn\u2019t feel good to talk about it, because the people who are in the movie are the right people, right?\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd your circumstances in life happen the way they happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDunst went on to reprise the role of Mary Jane in Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007).<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter Tobey Maguire<\/a> reprised his Peter Parker alongside successors Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Dunst said she \u201cwould have<\/a>\u201d come back as well if Marvel asked. With Raimi previously teasing that he\u2019s \u201ccompletely open<\/a>\u201d to directing another Spider-Man film, Dunst might get another chance at reprising the role.<\/p>\n
