{"id":36920,"date":"2025-07-25T18:29:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T18:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/36920\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T18:29:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T18:29:11","slug":"act-tariffs-significantly-affecting-the-freight-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/36920\/","title":{"rendered":"ACT: Tariffs significantly affecting the freight market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ai-optimize-6 ai-optimize-introduction\">COLUMBUS, Ind. \u2014 The effects of the highest tariffs since the 1930s on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrucker.com\/trucking-news\/business\/act-tariffs-to-extend-for-hire-freight-recession-into-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">freight market are significant<\/a>, as discussed in the latest release of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actresearch.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ACT Research<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actresearch.net\/reports-data\/forecasts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Freight Forecast: Rate and Volume OUTLOOK report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-7\">\u201cTariff impacts will be limited by the 75%-80% of freight already made and consumed domestically, but the impacts on international trade have been and will continue to be significant,\u201d said Tim Denoyer, vice president, senior analyst, ACT. \u201cUncertainty may be starting to decline, but after pre-tariff inventory building in the first half, the paybacks from these pull-forwards will likely start soon, leading to a short and soft peak season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roadcheck Impacts<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8\">\u201cThe trucking market has shown notable softness since Roadcheck in mid-May, with rate trends sliding and a brief jump in demand in early July already fading and freeing up capacity,\u201d Denoyer said.<\/p>\n<p>Capacity Remains Available<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">According to Denoyer, Capacity remained available even through the strongest seasonality of the year, partly because Class 8 tractor sales moved higher in Q2, counter to order trends, as the last pre-tariff vehicles were snapped up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">\u201cWhile freight demand headwinds remain, equipment sales are likely to decline as tariffs have begun,\u201d Denoyer said. \u201cSoft used tractor day cab prices also suggest private fleets are starting to reverse course, suggesting tighter capacity ahead.
