Jamie and Claire lovers, consider yourselves warned.\n<\/p>\n
Starz stuffed fans’ stockings with a Christmas Day bonus teaser for the upcoming eighth and final season of Outlander<\/a>, but the footage includes an ominous note: “Nothing can prepare you for how it ends.”\n<\/p>\n The new teaser opens with Jamie (Sam Heughan<\/a>) looking distressed as he hammers a nail into a coffin lid with the fully constructed box shown near the end of the footage as well. If that’s not enough worrisome foreshadowing, we also see parts of a scene previously released during a Comic-Con preview<\/a> earlier this year showing Frank Randall’s historical novel about the American Revolution with Jamie revealing that it “says war is coming to the back country and that James Fraser dies in it.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n But don’t worry romance fans, there’s also plenty of dreamy glimpses of Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe<\/a>) cementing their bond through time.\n<\/p>\n As previously announced, the final season begins on Starz on Friday, March 6, 2026. Season 8 follows Jamie and Claire as they discover the war has followed them home to a now-flourishing Fraser’s Ridge after their years away.\n<\/p>\n When the new season arrives, it will be a year since fans have seen the time-crossed lovers. Season 7 ended in January 2025 with the bombshell that the deceased Jane’s (Silvia Presente) younger sister Fanny (Florrie Wilkinson) may actually be Jamie and Claire’s daughter, Faith, whom the couple believed to have died shortly after birth in Paris.<\/p>\n The Emmy-nominated historical fantasy is based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling book series about the epic love story between an English World War II nurse who travels back in time to 18th century Scotland and meets a handsome Highlander.\n<\/p>\n Caitri\u0301ona Balfe and Sam Heughan on ‘Outlander’.<\/p>\n Starz<\/p>\n Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our\u00a0EW Dispatch newsletter<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n “One thing that is beautiful about this season is that we’ve surpassed the books at this point,”\u00a0actress Sophie Skelton (Brianna) said during the show’s 2025 Comic-Con panel. “The writers have done such an incredible job of keeping that nostalgia but just injecting some stuff that you don’t expect. So the main thing is, you’ve got to be prepared to be unprepared.”\n<\/p>\n Just as the main series nears its close, Starz expanded the Outlander universe earlier this year with prequel show Outlander: Blood of My Blood<\/a>, another time-hopping adventure focused on both Jamie and Claire’s parents. A second season of which is in the works<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n The final season of\u00a0Outlander\u00a0premieres March 6, with new episodes available to stream every Friday on Starz.
