GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) \u2014 Guyana\u2019s non-oil economy grew by 13.8 per cent in the first half of 2025, according to the mid-year economic report.<\/p>\n

Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister, Susan Rodrigues, described the figures as exceptional by global standards, saying, \u201cBy any measure, that is a remarkable growth percentage.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said in a broadcast that the overall economy grew by 7.5 per cent for the fifth consecutive year of broad-based economic expansion in Guyana, highlighting the performance across the non-oil sectors in a number of areas including agriculture, tourism, trade and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuyana\u2019s economy is extremely diversified,\u00a0and that is something that we are very proud of,\u00a0and we will continue to build on,\u201d\u00a0she said, making reference to the country\u2019s next phase of development.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur objective is very simple, to ensure that prosperity reaches every single Guyanese regardless of your geography, background, your ethnicity, your religion or your political affiliation,\u201d\u00a0Rodriques said.<\/p>\n

She said that this strategic direction will be reflected in various agencies such as the Small Business Bureau, Guyana National Bureau of Standards, Guyana Tourism Authority and the Competition Consumer Affairs Commission.<\/p>\n
