As Rick and Morty<\/a> continues to roll out its excellent eighth season<\/a>, fans now have even more to look forward to than Rick and Morty seasons nine, 10, 11, and 12. President Curtis, a spin-off featuring one of the show\u2019s recurring supporting characters,\u00a0is officially a go at Adult Swim. And yes, the legendary Keith David<\/a> will be back voicing the POTUS.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s clashes with Rick go all the way back to the season two episode \u201cGet Schwifty\u201d\u2014and he\u2019s popped up several times since then, usually beefing with Rick and\/or getting himself involved in something very un-presidential. There was that time he transformed into a turkey, as well as the time he dropped a lightsaber at the exact wrong angle and very nearly destroyed the Earth\u2019s core. He recently tried out being a hive mind as part of an ill-fated scheme to raise his approval ratings. Also, don\u2019t ask him to take a selfie with you. Just don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

President Curtis was co-created by Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano. According to an Adult Swim press release, the series \u201cfollows the Commander-in-Chief and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kind of crises Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with\u2014from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members of that eccentric staff will include characters voiced by Community\u2018s Jim Rash and Brooklyn Nine-Nine\u2018s Stephanie Beatriz.<\/p>\n

David appeared at the Rick and Morty San Diego Comic-Con panel to announce the news. In the press release, he sounded as excited as fans will surely be. \u201cPresident Curtis has always been a blast to play. Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can\u2019t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn\u2019t around to steal the spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harmon and Siciliano called President Curtis \u201cone of our favorite characters to write,\u201d noting, \u201cHe\u2019s the only person in the multiverse who can go toe-to-toe with Rick and still hold office. Now we finally get to go on sci-fi missions from Curtis\u2019 point of view. And with Keith David leading the charge, it\u2019s going to be a wild ride.\u201d<\/p>\n
