The Indianapolis Colts<\/a> can no longer make the playoffs.<\/p>\n

With the Houston Texans<\/a>‘ win over the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> on Saturday, the Colts have been officially eliminated.<\/p>\n

Philip Rivers’ return at 44 years old from retirement, in the end, will end at the end of the regular season.<\/p>\n

He practiced this week as the Colts’ expected starter, though, and that means he should still get the start on Sunday even after elimination.<\/p>\n

Taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>, Rivers can still make a bit of history.<\/p>\n

Rivers enters the day with 63,837 career passing yards. He’s eighth all-time.<\/p>\n

In seventh is Matthew Stafford, at 63,988. Since Stafford is still active, he’ll keep moving up, too.<\/p>\n

Both can pass Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday, though.<\/p>\n

Big Ben ranks sixth all-time in passing yards with 64,088.<\/p>\n

Rivers needs 252 passing yards to slot above Roethlisberger.<\/p>\n

Assuming Stafford stays ahead of Rivers, that would make Rivers the No. 7 passer all time by yardage. It’d at least be one cool feat to point to from his return to the field after nearly five years away.<\/p>\n
