As of today (December 31st), MTV\u2019s remaining 24-hour music channels worldwide are going dark.<\/p>\n

BBC<\/a> reports that the music network\u2019s UK channels \u2014 MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live \u2014 are among those signing off the air today. Local media further confirm that channels in Australia, Poland, France, Brasil, and elsewhere are shutting down. MTV\u2019s flagship channel will remain on the air, while prioritizing non-music reality programing. In an ironic, full-circle nod, MTV Music ended its broadcast by airing The Buggles\u2019 \u201cVideo Killed the Radio Star\u201d \u2014 the same clip that was the first video ever played on MTV.<\/p>\n
