Meier, in a statement. \u201cBased on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The case against the star lineman comes as wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2025\/12\/30\/sports\/stefon-diggs-patriots-charged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2025\/12\/30\/sports\/stefon-diggs-patriots-charged\/\">Stefon Diggs,<\/a> another key player on the Patriots, faces separate allegations that he choked and struck his personal chef earlier this month in Dedham amid a monetary dispute. <\/p>\n<p>Get Starting Point<\/p>\n<p>A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Diggs has yet to enter a plea in Dedham District Court, but he\u2019s denied the allegations through his attorneys who say he\u2019s working on a financial resolution with the accuser. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">An NFL spokesperson said Wednesday in a statement that both the Diggs and Barmore cases remain under review pursuant to the league\u2019s personal conduct policy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Both players, spokesperson Brian McCarthy said, remain \u201celigible to play at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cPursuant to the Personal Conduct Policy &#8230; consideration for placement on the Commissioner Exempt List may be considered following formal charges in the form of an indictment by a grand jury, the filing of charges by a prosecutor, or an arraignment in a criminal court,\u201d McCarthy said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The team, meanwhile, issued a statement Wednesday afternoon on the incident involving Barmore. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cThe New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August,\u201d the team said in a statement. \u201cThe Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">And Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2025\/12\/31\/sports\/patriots-mike-vrabel-stefon-diggs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2025\/12\/31\/sports\/patriots-mike-vrabel-stefon-diggs\/\">was asked during an afternoon news conference<\/a> if it was \u201cdisappointing\u201d for the team to have to contend with two high-profile sets of allegations involving Diggs and Barmore on the eve of the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">\u201cI would say, not disappointing at all,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201cThese are allegations &#8230; It\u2019s things that we have to handle, and every day that there\u2019s distractions, some are smaller than others. Confident that we\u2019ll focus on the Dolphins, and those two individuals that you mentioned will be able to handle the ongoing legal process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Vrabel said \u201cthere\u2019s ongoing legal matters. These, again, are allegations. We\u2019ve made a statement, we\u2019ve taken the allegations very seriously. What comes of that, then we\u2019ll have another discussion, but, I don\u2019t think that we have to jump to any sort of conclusions right now, and let the process take its toll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">A Mansfield police report filed in court said a woman who has a daughter with Barmore came to the station on Aug. 25 to report an alleged assault that had occurred Aug. 8 in his apartment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She \u201csaid she was physically assaulted\u201d by Barmore on that date, the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The woman indicated that Barmore had woken up angry around 7 a.m. because the air conditioning was set at 70 degrees, as opposed to his preferred 68, the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She said she spent the prior night in the guest room while Barmore slept in the master bedroom, and in the morning, she decided to take her daughter to his room so she could see her father, the filing said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The woman told police \u201cChristian asked her, \u2018why are you here?\u2019 and she told him that his daughter wanted to see him,\u201d police said, adding that she \u201cclaimed Christian picked up the child, placed her on the floor just outside the master bedroom, turned back into the room and slammed the door shut.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The woman said she tried to avoid Barmore throughout the day and later called her mother as she was gathering her belongings to leave. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She said Barmore snatched her phone away and disconnected the call, and that she \u201cintended to open the door and scream for help but Christian grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor,\u201d the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">It said she \u201ctried to get up but Christian had grabbed her by the shirt in the area of her neck,\u201d the report said, adding that the woman indicated he eventually let go, allowing her to get up and take her child back into her room as she continued packing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She said she called her mother again, and Barmore called his mother, who attempted to \u201ccalm him down,\u201d the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The woman \u201cstated Christian then rushed at her but didn\u2019t make any contact,\u201d the report said, adding that \u201cher daughter tried to jump into her arms when this happened,\u201d which she believed was why Barmore did not touch her. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She \u201csaid she was very frightened as Christian is an NFL player roughly 6\u20325\u2033 [and] 315 lbs.,&#8221; the police report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">It said the woman called a car service for Patriots players, and a driver later arrived, taking her and her daughter to Delaware. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The report said police asked her why she didn\u2019t report the matter earlier. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She said \u201cshe is in fear of Christian and his \u2018handlers\u2019 especially since he is wealthy and an NFL player,\u201d the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">It said she also provided police with a photo of the bruising she indicated she sustained when Barmore allegedly threw her to the floor. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Over the next few weeks, police said, an officer remained in contact with the woman to see if she wanted to pursue criminal charges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She indicated that she was pregnant with a second child of Barmore\u2019s, but that she no longer wanted any ties with the athlete, the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She also \u201ctold me during this incident he had threatened her to have his family members beat her up,\u201d the filing said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She \u201csaid the exact words were \u2018I\u2019m going to get my cousin to [expletive] you up,\u2019\u201d police said, adding that the woman \u201cis worried he may hire someone to harm her and make her life difficult.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">In addition, she \u201cmentioned she has heard Christian threaten people before while saying with the money he has he can hire anyone,\u201d the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Police said she also indicated she\u2019s \u201cworried about Christian\u2019s mother, financial advisor and mentor as she claims to have seen them go to extreme lengths to protect him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">The woman later showed police older text messages that Barmore had allegedly sent her. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">She \u201cwanted me to see them as she said they show what he is capable of doing especially when it comes to having someone harm her,\u201d the filing said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Police said the woman also sought a restraining order against Barmore in a Delaware court, but a judge declined to issue one, instead setting an October 2025 date for a further hearing. The outcome of that hearing wasn\u2019t immediately clear. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Barmore was drafted by the Patriots out of Alabama in 2021. He played in just four games in the 2024 season after being diagnosed with blood clots. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">In October 2024, Barmore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2024\/10\/18\/metro\/christian-barmore-accuses-providence-police-of-racism-during-traffic-stop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2024\/10\/18\/metro\/christian-barmore-accuses-providence-police-of-racism-during-traffic-stop\/\">was stopped by Providence police<\/a> in an incident that was captured on body cameras. Barmore accused the police of racism, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2024\/10\/19\/metro\/patriots-christian-barmore-providence-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2024\/10\/19\/metro\/patriots-christian-barmore-providence-police\/\">later apologized for the statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph | gutter_20_0\">Nicole Yang and Amin Touri of the Globe staff contributed to this report.
