During the second night of her Up All Night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday, Dec. 31, the actress and singer delivered a passionate speech to the crowd about the best advice she received after her divorce from ex-husband Marc Anthony<\/a>, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2014.<\/p>\n After hugging the 17-year-old twins she shares with Anthony, Max and Emme Mu\u00f1iz<\/a>, on stage, Lopez, 56, dressed in a strapless fuchsia gown that was paired with a matching boa, spoke about being in her “happy era” and what she hoped the crowd would take away from her show that night.<\/p>\n In an Instagram Reel<\/a> of the speech shared on Thursday, Jan. 1, the “Waiting for Tonight” hitmaker recalled a moment from the first night of her residency 10 years prior when her kids were 7 years old.<\/p>\n Jennifer Lopez\/Instagram<\/p>\n Max Mu\u00f1iz, Jennifer Lopez and Emme Mu\u00f1iz in December 2025<\/p>\n “After the show they came up to me, and they said, one of them, Max, he came up and said, ‘Mommy, why don’t you ever wear pants on stage?’ And I thought, ‘Jesus Christ, what a crazy life. This is a bizarre life,\u00a0right?'” she recalled.<\/p>\n Lopez then told her son that it was “because I’m a showgirl and I love to dance.”<\/p>\n “It seemed like a good excuse at the time. He was 7 years old. It was fine, but the truth is, I do, I love to dance,” she said.<\/p>\n Lopez then shared a piece of advice she learned from her third divorce that she hoped the crowd would leave with that night.<\/p>\n Denise Truscello\/Getty <\/p>\n Jennifer Lopez in December 2025 in Las Vegas<\/p>\n “After my third divorce, that’s when I really started\u00a0getting good at [dancing], okay?” she said, before explaining she was “ready to give up on everything” until a “very wise woman” offered some wisdom.<\/p>\n “My life was a mess,” Lopez recalled. “I was a single mom for the first time with two little 3-year old twins, and then one of my mentors, Louise Hay, said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer,\u00a0right?’ I said, ‘Yes, I am.’<\/p>\n Hay then asked her, “When you’re learning a dance and you get the steps wrong, what do you do?” to which Lopez replied, “I just keep going until I get the steps right.” Hay then told her “that was it.”<\/p>\n “Always keep dancing,” she told Lopez.<\/p>\n The Kiss of the Spider Woman star then imparted that same advice to her audience.<\/p>\n “I wish the same for you. No matter what life throws at you that you dance, and you dance and you dance. Again and again and again. I love you,” she told the crowd, before launching into her 2012 hit “Dance Again” featuring Pitbull.<\/a><\/p>\n “HAPPY NEW YEAR live from Las Vegas! \ud83d\udcab \u2728,” Lopez captioned the Instagram Reel.<\/p>\n Lopez’s third and longest marriage was to Anthony from 2004 to 2014.
