CBS News<\/p>\n<p>The 3-year-old fuzzy creature roamed free for roughly 28 hours in freezing temperatures as the MonroeTownship Police Department helped search for him, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1290484373109364&amp;set=pb.100064434412681.-2207520000\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the department announced. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rex was found around 9 p.m. on Tuesday near a retention pond by a Walmart, a half mile from the sanctuary, after a group of teens decided to drive to the area to search for him, the outlet reported. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just decided to look for a wallaby,\u201d Keith Miller, a member of the search party, told the outlet. <\/p>\n<p>The group of pals from Marlton and Voorhees spent roughly three hours looking for the adorable animal before finding him, they recalled to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey hopped the fence first and tried to get him into one spot,\u201d another teen, Leandro Vera, said. <\/p>\n<p>Rex was found around 9 p.m. on Tuesday near a retention pond by a Walmart, a half mile from the sanctuary, after a group of teens decided to drive to the area to search for him. CBS News<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe trapped him into a brush pile right here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Rex was cornered, the friends managed to pick him up by his tail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said get him by the tail because that\u2019s probably the strongest part of the animal,\u201d Laine Viviano said.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt was a very unique experience, and I\u2019m glad I can put that on my resume now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rex was in good condition when he was found, according to Layden, who expressed immense gratitude for the teens and the community\u2019s help with the search. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was in great condition, like it was nothing,\u201d Layden said. \u201cHe was just out for a stroll. He wasn\u2019t even stressed out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really appreciate all the help that the community and everybody gave,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Wallabies are members of the kangaroo clan and primarily inhabit Australia and nearby islands.
