The MLB offseason is more than half over, but many top free agents remain unsigned, including Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette and Alex Bregman.<\/p>\n
Boston Red Sox fans are growing anxious over whether Bregman will re-sign<\/a> with the Red Sox after opting out of his contract. The longer Boston waits, the more likely it becomes that another team will swoop in and sign him.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Red Sox may not be the frontrunner for Bregman anymore, either, based on Mark Feinsand\u2019s report<\/a> for MLB.com on Thursday. According to Feinsand, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays \u201cmay be the two most aggressive clubs in the hunt for Bregman,\u201d although a reunion with Boston is still possible.<\/p>\n Feinsand adds that the Red Sox and Blue Jays are both competing for Bichette as well. Accordingly, the free-agent decisions of Bregman and Bichette are closely related<\/a>.<\/p>\n If Bregman returns to Boston, Toronto becomes more likely to re-sign Bichette and vice versa. If Bregman joins the Blue Jays, the Red Sox may counter by signing Bichette<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Boston can be flexible thanks to Marcelo Mayer\u2019s defensive versatility. If Bregman leaves, the Red Sox could put him at third base and sign Bichette to play second base. If Bregman stays, Mayer can man second.<\/p>\n It depends on which of the two All-Stars signs first, and where.
