Liverpool have been tentatively linked with a move for Crystal Palace\u2019s Adam Wharton.<\/p>\n

RTK exclusively shared in September that Liverpool could enter the Wharton and Carlos Baleba race<\/a> in 2026 with the view of making a big midfield signing.<\/p>\n

Manchester United have since been linked<\/a> to the Englishman, but speculation around the Merseyside outfit making a move has remained.<\/p>\n

It was claimed in December that \u2018Wharton certainly has his admirers at Anfield<\/a> and he could be one to watch for the summer\u2019.<\/p>\n

But Steven Gerrard<\/a> is of the opinion that Liverpool<\/a> have already let go of one player he\u2019d take over the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n

Steven Gerrard would take Jordan Henderson over Adam Wharton<\/p>\n

Jordan Henderson was sold to Al-Ettifaq<\/a> in 2023 by Liverpool, before a brief spell with Ajax.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s since returned to the Premier League with Brentford and has shone with the Bees across 2025\/26.<\/p>\n

Now, speaking to TNT Sports<\/a> along with fellow ex-Red Steve McManaman, Gerrard said he would take Henderson<\/a> over the aforementioned Wharton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, I would take Jordan in front of Wharton, because he\u2019s young, and he hasn\u2019t experienced, I think he will be a great player in the future, but I don\u2019t know if it will be a few years before\u2026\u201d McManaman started.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of today, yeah,\u201d Gerrard added.<\/p>\n

Jordan Henderson among Premier League\u2019s top players<\/p>\n

Liverpool are having issues in midfield right now, with Curtis Jones struggling against Leeds United<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

However, their former captain is thriving at Brentford, and Troy Deeney even ranked Henderson as the sixth-best Premier League player<\/a> of the season in November.<\/p>\n

Deeney said: \u201cNumber six, Jordan Henderson is the signing of the season freebie, he\u2019s done well for Brentford.<\/p>\n

\u201cHenderson came in from Ajax, where he wasn\u2019t great, it was considered a dodgy move, he\u2019s done really well in there. He\u2019s going to the World Cup at his age, in my opinion, that\u2019s more impressive than Caicedo.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old has one goal and three assists in 16 league matches so far this term.<\/p>\n
