In a recent roundtable, Harvard GSD faculty Farshid Moussavi<\/a>, Stan Allen<\/a>, and Toni L. Griffin<\/a> discuss their approaches to the design of housing<\/a>. Beginning with the definition of \u2018housing\u2019 and \u2018homes,\u2019 the panel discusses how to reconsider what conceptions of a home look like today, and what is required of architects.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe contemporary concept of home extends beyond the domestic, encompassing professional, social, and environmental dimensions,\u201d Moussavi said during the discussion. \u201cThat complexity demands design approaches that address not\u00a0only individual comfort, but also collective resilience, adaptability, and non-human life, including planetary health and other species. At the same time, social care asks us to design homes that enable connection and mutual support.\u201d<\/p>\n
