\n A five-star prospect from the 2024 recruiting class is leaving Ohio State after two seasons as a Buckeye. <\/p>\n
\n\tAaron Scott Jr., who was Ohio State\u2019s No. 4 cornerback this past season, announced he would enter the transfer portal on Saturday.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tScott, who was ranked as the No. 36 overall prospect<\/a> in the 2024 class, played primarily on special teams in his first two years as a Buckeye. He drew praise from Ryan Day<\/a> for his special teams play early in the season, when Ohio State\u2019s head coach revealed that Scott had been the first player to the 30-yard line on 13 straight kickoffs.\n<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAaron Scott’s going to start playing more football around here,\u201d Day said on Sept. 30.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThat additional playing time never materialized on defense, however, as Scott played just 106 defensive snaps for the season, with all of those snaps coming in backup duty.\n<\/p>\n \n\tScott was viewed as a candidate to compete for a starting\u00a0job in Ohio State\u2019s secondary in 2026, as 2025 starting cornerback Davison Igbinosun and starting nickelback Lorenzo Styles Jr. are out of eligibility\u00a0while starting cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr. has a decision to make on whether to enter the 2026 NFL draft.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThat said, Devin Sanchez \u2013 also a five-star recruit \u2013 is a leading candidate to replace Igbinosun in the starting lineup.\u00a0Ohio State is also set to host Auburn transfer cornerback Kayin Lee<\/a> for a visit on Sunday, while 247Sports<\/a> has identified Ohio State as a \u201cschool to watch\u201d for Rutgers transfer cornerback Bo Mascoe.\n<\/p>\n
