{"id":388496,"date":"2026-01-05T03:47:29","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T03:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/388496\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T03:47:29","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T03:47:29","slug":"barker-chosen-no-9-overall-school-record-three-players-selected-in-2025-wnba-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/388496\/","title":{"rendered":"Barker Chosen No. 9 Overall, School Record Three Players Selected in 2025 WNBA Draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK\u00a0\u2013\u00a0For the first time in program history, the\u00a0Alabama\u00a0women&#8217;s basketball program had\u00a0three student-athletes\u00a0hear their names called\u00a0during the Women&#8217;s National Basketball Association Draft on Monday\u00a0night at The Shed at Hudson Yards.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rolltide.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/sarah-ashlee-barker\/12040\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12040\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Ashlee Barker<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0selected by the Los Angeles Sparks\u00a0with\u00a0the ninth overall pick, followed by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rolltide.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/aaliyah-nye\/12045\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12045\" target=\"_blank\">Aaliyah Nye<\/a>\u00a0who was the first pick of the second round, No. 13 overall,\u00a0by the Las Vegas Aces\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rolltide.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/zaay-green\/12598\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12598\" target=\"_blank\">Zaay Green<\/a>, who\u00a0was\u00a0drafted by the Washington Mystics\u00a0with the 32ndoverall selection\u00a0(third round).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Barker, Nye and Green are the ninth, 10th\u00a0and 11th\u00a0players to be drafted in program\u00a0history, respectfully. The Crimson Tide has now had five players in the last five years\u00a0selected in the WNBA Draft under head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/rolltide.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/kristy-curry\/1586\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1586\" target=\"_blank\">Kristy Curry<\/a>, joining Jasmine Walker (2021) and Brittany Davis (2023), who were selected by the Los Angeles Sparks and Las Vegas Aces, respectfully. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We couldn&#8217;t be more proud of Sarah Ashlee, Aaliyah and Zaay.
