Although the original Breaking Amish ended in 2014, fans have continued to stay interested in the casts\u2019 lives through the years.<\/p>\n

The TLC show, which aired in 2012, initially followed the lives of five young Anabaptist adults \u2014 Kate Stoltz, Jeremiah Raber, Abe Schmucker, Rebecca Schmucker and Sabrina Burkholder \u2014 as they moved to New York City to decide whether they wanted to break out of their community or ultimately return home.<\/p>\n

The original cast returned for a second season in 2013, however, the series returned with an entirely new cast for Breaking Amish: Los Angeles later that year. Season 4, which was called Breaking Amish: Brooklyn, aired in 2014.<\/p>\n

While the Breaking Amish series ended in 2014, a spinoff show with the original cast, Return to Amish, premiered on TLC that same year. Return to Amish aired for seven seasons up until May 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTLC\u2019s all-new series is putting the spotlight back on the Amish community once again. Us Weekly can exclusively reveal that Suddenly Amish is coming to the network in early 2026. Set in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the show will invite six non-Amish individuals on a rare journey as they leave behind their modern \u201cEnglish\u201d lifestyle and step [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately it is safe to say that the show is done and over with,\u201d Raber shared in a March 2025 Facebook post<\/a> confirming the end of Return to Amish. \u201cThank you to each and every one of you who helped make the show a success!! I have so many big things in the works for this year so I hope you stick around to see!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate Stoltz

Stoltz, who was born to an Amish family, appeared on the first two seasons of Breaking Amish and returned for the first three seasons of Return to Amish. While on the show, Stoltz decided to stay in New York City to pursue a career in modeling and fashion design. In 2015, Stoltz began her own fashion line called the Kate Stoltz label.<\/p>\n

Jeremiah Raber

Raber, who was raised in an Amish family, was one of the breakout stars of the original Breaking Amish in seasons 1 and 2. Raber returned to the franchise for 2014\u2019s Return to Amish and remained part of the core cast for seven seasons. He was previously married to Carmela Mendez Raber from 2016 to 2022. (Jeremiah shares three children from a previous marriage to Naomi Stutzman.)<\/p>\n

Since the end of Return to Amish, Jeremiah has been dealing with severe health issues, which he has continued to discuss on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully soon I\u2019ll be at the doctor\u2019s and getting it checked out,\u201d Raber shared in a TikTok video<\/a> in March 2024, thanking his followers for donating \u201cenough money to go to the doctor for [his] heart issue\u201d and that he \u201cappreciates it\u201d more than they know.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBreaking Amish\u2019s Mama Mary Schmucker has moved to hospice care amid her cancer battle, her daughter-in-law Rebecca Schmucker shared. Taking to social media, Rebecca shared a photo of Mary via Instagram on Wednesday, November 13, calling on Breaking Amish fans to send well wishes to her mother-in-law as she updated them on her condition. \u201cI\u2019m [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

In April 2024, InTouch Weekly<\/a> reported that Raber spent two days in the hospital for heart issues and diabetic ketoacidosis. (The Cleveland Clinic<\/a> describes diabetic ketoacidosis as \u201ca life-threatening complication of diabetes and undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes.\u201d)<\/p>\n

At the end of 2025, Raber revealed on social media that he was in the hospital for \u201cpossible liver failure\u201d<\/a> and was \u201cwaiting to be life flighted to another hospital.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Sabrina Burkholder

Burkholder, who was the only Mennonite on the TLC show, starred on two seasons of the original Breaking Amish before returning to the franchise for 2014\u2019s Return to Amish from seasons 1 through 3 then seasons 5 through 7. Burkholder struggled with drug addiction following the end of the original series.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Burkholder suffered a near-fatal heroin overdose and has been sober ever since.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople say I don\u2019t look like the same person; that\u2019s because I\u2019m not,\u201d she explained in a June 2021 Instagram post<\/a>. \u201cJesus done a work and I\u2019m so grateful for sobriety.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the end of Return to Amish, Burkholder continues to live a quiet life with her six kids in Pennsylvania. She shares daughters Oakley and Ariana from a previous relationship, son Zekiah and daughters Skylar and Kalani with ex-boyfriend Jethro Nolt and son Aro with boyfriend Scottie.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Byler-Schmucker and Abe Schmucker

Rebecca and Abe, both born to Amish families, met on season 1 of Breaking Amish and eventually tied the knot in the season 1 finale. They went on to appear in Return to Amish in 2014, however, they eventually left the show in 2017 to live a private life with their family in Pennsylvania. The couple share daughter Malika together as well as Rebecca\u2019s daughter Kayla from a previous relationship.<\/p>\n

Rebecca and Abe celebrated their 12th anniversary in September 2024.<\/p>\n

Mary Schmucker

Abe\u2019s mom, Mary, appeared on Breaking Amish and Return to Amish alongside both Abe and Rebecca. While she was initially a recurring cast member, Mary remained on the show following Abe and Rebecca\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Mary was diagnosed with colon cancer. She died in March 2025<\/a> following complications from the disease. Mary was 65.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe you are really gone. Rest easy Mom. We will always love and miss you! ,\u201d Rebecca wrote via Instagram<\/a> in April 2025.<\/p>\n
