After Ben Johnson\u2019s departure to become Bears head coach, the Lions brought John Morton back to the organization to be the team\u2019s offensive coordinator. <\/p>\n

But that did not work out, as head coach Dan Campbell took over play-calling duties midway through the season. <\/p>\n

Detroit missed the playoffs, finishing 9-8 on the season after losing four of their last six to end the year.<\/p>\n

While the Lions still finished No. 4 in points and No. 5 in yards, the totality of the season means there will be some offseason changes coming. Campbell told reporters in his Monday press conference that he\u2019s not sure exactly what he\u2019ll do next year for offensive play-caller, whether it\u2019s keeping the duty himself or passing it off to someone else.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know exactly where I\u2019m at with that yet<\/a>,\u201d Campbell said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. \u201cI mean, I guess one of the good things if I did do that, you don\u2019t have to worry about somebody else leaving. You don\u2019t have to worry about your play-caller leaving. So that would be one of the perks of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell added he\u2019s \u201copen to anything\u201d when it comes to offensive play-caller.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to think through all of that, and there again, I think I really want to do what I feel is best for the team, and that included,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cIf I believe that\u2019s what\u2019s best for us, and I feel good about it, then I will [call plays again]. If I just feel like, \u2018Ahh, I don\u2019t \u2026\u2019 Then I won\u2019t do it. I won\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Campbell noted he had not yet made any decisions on the coaching staff, he said it\u2019s his top priority as the offseason begins.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to make sure that I feel good about where the guys are at, the positions they\u2019re in, or do we tweak a couple things, move a couple of guys,\u201d he said. \u201cDo we stay pat? Those are the things I got to sort through. That\u2019s the first for me, that\u2019s what I got to get through, and just I got to do some digging here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell has now compiled a 48-36-1 record in five seasons as Detroit\u2019s head coach.
