Liverpool supporters have been desperate to see some movement from the Reds during the January transfer window after a frustrating season so far.<\/p>\n

Big money was spent over the summer months, but Liverpool have already crashed out of the Premier League title race.<\/p>\n

It is clear that Arne Slot has needed something extra to help his team regain their mojo, and with the market now open, there is hope that he will be granted his wish.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, with Liverpool<\/a>\u2018s defence badly in need of some reinforcements, they have been linked with making some centre-back signings for the underage sides.<\/p>\n

And after rumours surfaced on Sunday that Liverpool could buy Senegal youngster Talla Ndiaye<\/a>, a transfer has already moved to the verge of completion.<\/p>\n

At this stage, Liverpool fans would love nothing more than buying an experienced centre-back such as Marc Guehi this month.<\/p>\n

But with fresh claims that Man City are plotting a move for Guehi<\/a>, they may have to wait on that front.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, it is encouraging that Liverpool are looking to secure the future of their defence with youngsters such as Ndiaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.<\/p>\n

While the wait goes on for finalisation of the deal to sign Ndukwe<\/a>, journalist Paul Gorst reported on Monday that Ndiaye is set to join Liverpool, a move which will lead to Amara Nallo<\/a> being granted a loan move.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool are closing in on deal to sign left-sided centre-back Mor Ndiaye, who played for Senegal at the recent U17 World Cup in Qatar,\u201d Gorst posted on X<\/a>. \u201cSlated to go into Rob Page\u2019s U21 squad if deal is completed. Amara Nallo expected to go on loan if the agreement for Ndiaye is pushed through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ndiaye set to become fifth-choice Liverpool centre-back<\/p>\n

This is not the first-team move Liverpool fans have been hoping to see arrive this month. Still, the interesting part of this transfer is what it reportedly means for Nallo.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old was seen as being Liverpool\u2019s fifth-choice central defender heading into the season, and although he has only made one appearance, that is still nominally the case.<\/p>\n

Injury to Giovanni Leoni has seen Wataru Endo step in as Slot\u2019s fourth-choice, but the likes of Nallo and Wellity Lucky are next in line.<\/p>\n

Nallo has been seen as an \u2018excellent\u2019 young player<\/a> at Liverpool, but two red cards in his first two senior appearances for the Reds have damaged his reputation.<\/p>\n

A loan move will do him good, and in the meantime, Ndiaye could potentially be looking at some first-team involvement if things fall his way. This one could pay off in a big way for Liverpool in the future, even if it is not the signing fans were looking for in the here and now. <\/p>\n
