Kristen Stewart would love to return to the \u201cTwilight\u201d franchise, but not as Bella Swan. Instead, the actress shared she was open to the idea of directing a remake of the vampire romance fantasy.<\/p>\n

Stewart expressed her interest in helming a remake of \u201cTwilight\u201d while speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards in Palm Springs, Calif. on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support,\u201d she said of her possible involvement in a reboot of the franchise. \u201cI don\u2019t know \u2014 I would love to readapt. Yeah, sure, I\u2019ll do the remake. I\u2019m doing it! I\u2019m committed!\u201d<\/p>\n

She also took a moment to shout out the original films\u2019 directors, especially Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz. Watch the interview below.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love what Catherine did, I love what Chris did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies,\u201d she added. \u201cThey were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didn\u2019t really know what they were yet, like before they blew up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart starred as Bella Swan opposite Robert Pattinson\u2019s vampire Edward Cullen for five \u201cTwilight\u201d films, including 2008\u2019s \u201cTwilight,\u201d 2009\u2019s \u201cThe Twilight Saga: New Moon,\u201d 2010\u2019s \u201cThe Twilight Saga: Eclipse,\u201d 2011\u2019s \u201cThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn \u2013 Part 1\u201d and 2012\u2019s \u201cThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn \u2013 Part 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

While there isn\u2019t currently a plan to relaunch the \u201cTwilight\u201d films, an animated series based on Stephenie Meyer\u2019s 2020 companion novel, \u201cMidnight Sun,\u201d is in development at Netflix.<\/p>\n

Per the streamer, \u201cMidnight Sun\u201d is \u201ca retelling of the first entry in the \u2018Twilight\u2019 story,\u201d as it tells the events of the book from Edward\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n

Meyer is set to serve as executive producer for \u201cMidnight Sun\u201d alongside her Fickle Fish Films partner, Meghan Hibbett. Additional executive producers include Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen for Temple Hill Entertainment, and Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey for Picturestart. Sinead Daly will also executive produce, as well as write the series.<\/p>\n
