UPDATE: According to a post on the official Johnny Blue Skies Instagram account<\/a>, reporting from The Tennessean<\/a> that Sturgill Simpson and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys had collaborated, or were planning to collaborate on new music in 2026 is \u201cFake News.\u201d Instead, Simpson simply recorded in Auerbach\u2019s new studio in Nashville recently, and the music is likely to come out at some point in 2026. <\/p>\n In an article published by The Tennessean on December 30th, the Nashville newspaper stated in a profile on Dan Auerbach, \u201cAnd in 2026, Auerbach\u2019s got work on the horizon with Sturgill Simpson.\u201d<\/p>\n But the Johnny Blue Skies post states, \u201cAlthough it probably wouldn\u2019t suck, Dan Auerback and Johnny B & The DC\u2019s have not worked together. And according to the singer and guitarist for The Black Keys, Dan Auerbach, don\u2019t be surprised if he\u2019s involved in some capacity. <\/p>\n Auerbach is up for Producer of the Year at the upcoming Grammy Awards on February 1st. Along with his Black Keys work, he\u2019s a prolific producer, working with Early James, Robert Finley, Jermie Albino, and more over the last year or so. He says that being able to support himself through the Black Keys allows him to work with artists the don\u2019t necessarily represent a financial boon to him. <\/p>\n \u201cIt allows me to work on stuff I personally love, and it can be an artist who has no followers or an old established artist,\u201d Auerbach said to The Tennessean<\/a> recently. \u201cI think what we do here is very boutique and very grassroots in a way.\u201d<\/p>\n But one artists that he says he\u2019s working with would definitely be a big deal.
