\n\tMickey Rourke<\/a> confirmed he is not involved with the GoFundMe campaign<\/a> that was launched under the premise of helping the actor to stay in his home. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn late December,\u00a0The Wrestler\u00a0actor was\u00a0sued by his landlord<\/a>, who alleged that Rourke owed nearly $60,000 in rent on the three-bedroom Spanish bungalow just south of West Hollywood that he was living in.\u00a0In response, Liya-Joelle Jones\u00a0launched a GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cHelp Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRourke, however, says he has no knowledge of the fundraising effort and isn\u2019t asking fans for any money. In a video posted to Instagram on Monday night, Rourke said he is \u201cfrustrated\u201d and \u201cconfused\u201d by the situation. He explained that he learned about the GoFundMe, but didn\u2019t understand why it was created. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s not me, OK?\u201d Rourke said. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019d rather, if I needed money, I wouldn\u2019t ask for no fucking charity. I\u2019d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger. So whoever did this, I don\u2019t know if they did it \u2014 why they did it. I don\u2019t understand it. I wouldn\u2019t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple. I don\u2019t go to outside sources like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added that it is \u201cembarrassing.\u201d \u201cBut I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll get over it like anything else,\u201d Rourke said. \u201cEverything else. Listen, I\u2019ve done a really terrible job in managing my career. I wasn\u2019t very diplomatic. I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago. And I worked very hard to work through that. And I\u2019m not that person anymore \u2026 I\u2019m not that wild man that I was twenty-something years ago. But you pay the price for your past.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRourke told fans not to give any money to the GoFundMe campaign. \u201cGet it back,\u201d he said. He added that he plans to speak with his lawyer to \u201cget to the bottom of this.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s only one person I can think of that would do such a thing, and I hope it\u2019s not the person I\u2019m thinking about,\u201d Rourke said. \u201cIt\u2019s humiliating.\u201d He confirmed that he has previously borrowed money from a \u201cgood friend,\u201d but if he needed money he would ask. \u201cBut I would never ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not my style \u2026 I wouldn\u2019t take a fucking nickel from charity or from anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs of early Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $97,000. The page states, \u201cLife doesn\u2019t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and his life, he is now dealing with a challenging financial moment that has put his housing at risk. This fundraiser is being created with Mickey\u2019s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent eviction.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this week, Jones spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about setting up the campaign on Rourke\u2019s behalf. \u201cMickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it\u2019s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,\u201d she said. The publication names her a friend and a member of Rourke\u2019s management team.<\/p>\n

\n\tRourke received a three-day eviction notice on Dec. 18, according to the\u00a0Los Angeles Times. He signed the lease in March 2025 for $5,200 per month. It was later raised to $7,000 per month.<\/p>\n
