Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says \u201cit makes no sense\u201d for him to discuss links to the vacant Manchester United job.<\/p>\n

Glasner has been suggested as a potential replacement for Ruben Amorim after United sacked him on Monday, but the Austrian batted away questions about being a contender for the job at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Glasner has transformed Palace since taking over in February 2024, first guiding them away from the threat of relegation that season and then leading them to their first-ever major trophy by winning the FA Cup last May.<\/p>\n

The 2024-25 season also saw Palace win a club-record 53 points in the Premier League, before defeating Liverpool in a penalty shootout in the Community Shield in August, all as part of a 19-game club-record unbeaten run in all competitions.<\/p>\n

Glasner, though, is out of contract in the summer and has repeatedly referenced Palace\u2019s hectic schedule as a reason why he has not held talks with chairman Steve Parish over whether or not he will stay beyond that deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not allowed to bet, I don\u2019t look at it,\u201d Glasner said in his press conference before Palace\u2019s Premier League match with Aston Villa on Wednesday evening. \u201cI also can\u2019t give insider information.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Crystal Palace manager. It makes no sense and it\u2019s a waste of time for you to ask me any more questions on it.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can sign a new contract. Managers in the Premier League did this last year, they aren\u2019t the manager anymore. We can win trophies, you aren\u2019t the manager there anymore. The length of a contract doesn\u2019t mean anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glasner said he would hold contract talks with Palace after Saturday\u2019s FA Cup third-round tie against Macclesfield, and expected to reach a decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone gets three days off after Macclesfield and then we have four regular weeks (without a midweek game). In these weeks we will intensify the talks and I expect then to find the final decision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Parish told The Athletic during an interview last month<\/a> that it was a \u201cdifficult time to sit down and talk\u201d regarding Glasner\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in the muck and bullets of the season,\u201d Parish said. \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that I\u2019m sure he wants to see if it\u2019s a place he wants to be at and if the circumstances are right for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know people want him to stay desperately and I want him to stay desperately. We hope we get the outcome we want, but we plan for everything else as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Glasner said he could not be sure whether captain Marc Guehi will remain at Palace until the summer, when the England centre-back is also out of contract.<\/p>\n

As The Athletic reported earlier on Tuesday<\/a>, Guehi has been the subject of interest from Manchester City in this transfer window after a move to Liverpool broke down late on summer deadline day. Glasner, who previously stated the 25-year-old would stay, said on Tuesday he \u201cdoes not know\u201d what will happen this month.<\/p>\n

Guehi\u2019s centre-back partner Chris Richards is expected to be available to face Villa as an option off the bench.
