Around the time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their senior royal duties and became financially independent<\/a> from The Firm, the Duke of Sussex allegedly \u201cdemanded funds\u201d from his father, King Charles III.<\/p>\n

In Robert Jobson\u2019s new book The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty of Secrets, Scandal, and Survival (via Page Six<\/a>), the royal biographer claims the late Queen Elizabeth II became \u201ctired of the drama\u201d that Harry, 41, and his wife, 44, would create.<\/p>\n

Amid the couple\u2019s departure from the monarchy \u2014 which has since been dubbed Megxit \u2014 the queen had Harry\u2019s calls redirected to his father, according to The Windsor Legacy (released Tuesday, January 6).<\/p>\n

Page Six reports that Harry rubbed his father, 77, the wrong way after he \u201cswore at him and demanded funds,\u201d Jobson claims, prompting Charles to allegedly tell friends<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m not a bank.\u201d<\/p>\n

In The Windsor Legacy, Jobson reportedly details how Megxit unfolded<\/a>, including how Her Majesty \u2014 who died on September 8, 2022, at age 96 \u2014 felt about Meghan and Harry fleeing to California.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe made it clear to those close to her that privately she felt let down by the Sussexes\u2019 departure, which she saw as short-sighted and a missed opportunity,\u201d Jobson, who also describes the tumultuous time<\/a> as \u201cquite mad,\u201d writes in the book, according to Page Six.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a source close to the Spare author told the outlet that, concerning Jobson\u2019s book, the father of two is \u201cnot a big fan of fiction.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Harry wed the former Suits star on May 19, 2018, and welcomed son Prince Archie<\/a> a year later, the couple made the decision in January 2020 to step back as senior royals and move to the United States.<\/p>\n
