With his two goals at Capital One Arena against the Anaheim Ducks, Alex Ovechkin scored the 913th and 914th goals of his career, marking the 349th home game he\u2019s lit the lamp. Per NHL PR<\/a>, that\u2019s the new NHL record as Ovechkin passed Gordie Howe, who scored in 348 home games he appeared in.<\/p>\n

The goals also marked Ovechkin\u2019s 447th and 448th career home goals, which place him third all-time. He trails only Wayne Gretzky (492) and Howe (449).<\/p>\n

Ovechkin got his night started against the Ducks with a tally from the left circle to make it 5-1 with 11:08 remaining in the second period. The tally marked Ovechkin\u2019s 10th career tally scored by Ducks goaltender Petr Mrazek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alex Ovechkin\u2019s 913th goal<\/p>\n

He later added his record-extending 69th career empty-net goal with 42 seconds remaining in the game to make it 7-4.<\/p>\n

Alex Ovechkin\u2019s 914th goal<\/p>\n

Ovechkin\u2019s first goal of the night wound up being the game-winner, extending his GWG record to 140 in his career. He also tied Jaromir Jagr for the most GWGs in the regular season and playoffs combined with 151.<\/p>\n

The multi-goal game was Ovechkin\u2019s 182nd of his career, moving the Russian winger to within seven of Wayne Gretzky\u2019s all-time mark of 189.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old Ovechkin now has 17 goals in the Capitals\u2019 first 43 games of the 2025-26 season. According to TSN\u2019s Stat Centre<\/a>, that\u2019s the third-quickest pace for a player age 40 or older all time.<\/p>\n
