Sports tech firm Next League has hired longtime former PGA Tour executive SCOTT GUTTERMAN as its new chief digital officer. Gutterman spent 20 years at the tour, most recently as SVP\/Digital & Broadcast Technologies, before taking part in its voluntary retirement program late in 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gutterman\u2019s last day at the PGA Tour was Nov. 30, and he said it was an easy decision on his next steps.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to jump back in,\u201d he said. \u201cI kind of knew I didn\u2019t want to wait too long and see what\u2019s happening starting with the new year. I talked to a number of different opportunities that were circulating around and (Next League CEO DAVE NUGENT) and I just have been talking for a long time and it\u2019s really where I wanted to end up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gutterman had been instrumental in the PGA Tour\u2019s digital efforts. He led the way on its \u201cEvery Shot Live\u201d feature along with its recently revamped website and its efforts on Apple Vision Pro.<\/p>\n

Gutterman\u2019s relationship with Nugent goes back more than a decade. Nugent was a co-founder of Omnigon and helped the tour — along with Gutterman — take its digital operations in house<\/a> in 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been very conscious of the work he\u2019s done during that window and the value he brings not just to the golf part of the sports industry, but the technology part of the sports industry more broadly,\u201d Nugent said.<\/p>\n

Gutterman, who will remain based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and report to Nugent, said joining Next League provides him an opportunity to spread his wings beyond golf.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the opportunity came up to kind of look beyond the tour, I wanted to diversify what I was doing in the sports I was working across,\u201d Gutterman said. \u201cSo it\u2019s great that I\u2019m still going to get to work with the Next League clients like TGL and USGA and others. But I\u2019m also really very excited to kind of expand across the different clients that they have, whether that\u2019s New York Roadrunners or NASCAR or other places.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Gutterman\u2019s hire, Next League is transitioning SHRIPAL SHAH to become its chief AI and innovation officer. Next League hired Shah as its chief digital officer in January 2025.<\/p>\n
