{"id":396615,"date":"2026-01-09T05:13:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T05:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/396615\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T05:13:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T05:13:12","slug":"sabrina-ionescus-status-for-unrivaled-revealed-after-suffering-injury-during-wnba-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/396615\/","title":{"rendered":"Sabrina Ionescu&#8217;s Status for Unrivaled Revealed After Suffering Injury During WNBA Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Sabrina Ionescu will not participate in Unrivaled&#8217;s second season due to an injury suffered during her 2025 campaign with the WNBA&#8217;s New York Liberty, per an <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ayabdeen\/status\/2009378254533149154\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">announcement<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">&#8220;While I&#8217;m disappointed I couldn&#8217;t play this season, I&#8217;ll be rooting for the Phantom,&#8221; Ionescu, who played with Phantom BC in 2025, said in a statement. &#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to working with Unrivaled through content and broadcast opportunities and continuing to support the league&#8217;s success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Those opportunities include &#8220;select on-air appearances with TNT Sports,&#8221; the league&#8217;s broadcast partner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">The statement did not reveal the injury preventing Ionescu from playing this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Ionescu, who starred at Oregon before joining the Liberty in 2020, has played six WNBA seasons. She averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">This year&#8217;s Unrivaled season began on Monday. The second campaign features two new teams, Hive and Breeze, for a total of eight.
