(WCSC) \u2014 The Charleston Police Department has charged a woman in a mans death days after an assault that occurred in the Twelve Oaks neighborhood on Johns Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chelsea Ann McDaniel, 37, of Charleston, has been charged with murder in connection with the death.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"The Charleston Police Department has charged a woman in a mans death days after an assault...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/E3JFSDKGZFAPJHGJD33IASCULY.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>The Charleston Police Department has charged a woman in a mans death days after an assault that occurred in the Twelve Oaks neighborhood on Johns Island.(Al Cannon Detention Center)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers responded to a home on Fenwick Hall Allee around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, for a report of a man\u2019s death. Detectives and the Charleston County Coroner\u2019s office determined the death was the result of a homicide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Detectives learned that the victim was physically assaulted by his girlfriend, whom they identified as McDaniel, several days earlier during an argument. The assault caused internal injuries that led to the victim\u2019s death, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">McDaniel is in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 and ask for the on-duty Central Detective.
