NBA franchise values are continuing to \u201csoar into the billions.\u201d Brown \u201ccompared NBA players to executives at major corporations.\u201d He said that \u201cemployees at companies such as Apple or Nike often receive equity for years of service\u201d and that professional athletes \u201cshould be viewed similarly.\u201d Brown: \u201cThe sweat equity that you put in, you get compensated for doing your job, but you don\u2019t get compensated for the growth. In major corporations and companies, you do. I think players should be able to invest alongside ownership groups.\u201d Brown is currently VP on the NBPA\u2019s Exec Committee and has served with the union since 2019. The union and team owners reached their most recent CBA in 2023, a deal that runs through the 2029\u201330 season.
