{"id":397979,"date":"2026-01-09T21:49:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T21:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/397979\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T21:49:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T21:49:11","slug":"cristian-romero-tottenham-captain-given-additional-ban-after-red-card-against-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/397979\/","title":{"rendered":"Cristian Romero: Tottenham captain given additional ban after red card against Liverpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/teams\/tottenham-hotspur\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham<\/a> captain Cristian Romero has been given an additional one-match suspension and fined \u00a350,000 for his behaviour during his side&#8217;s defeat by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Romero admitted to a Football Association charge of &#8220;acting improperly by failing to leave the field of play promptly&#8221; after he was sent off in the 93rd minute of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/live\/ckgz1k1973wt\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham&#8217;s 2-1 loss on 20 December<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Argentine defender was shown a second yellow card for kicking out at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a>&#8216;s Ibrahima Konate after being fouled.
