Man arrested for allegedly entering and breaking items in tenant\u2019s home<\/p>\n
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX<\/a>) \u2014 A Mesa County man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly entering and destroying belongings in a tenant\u2019s property.<\/p>\n The incident occurred on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the 2100 block of Broadway. The Mesa County Sheriff\u2019s Office (MCSO), which was the responding agency, identified the man as 51-year-old Gene Gregory Gana.<\/p>\n According to MCSO, the resident was not in the home during the incident and was able to leave the property unharmed.<\/p>\n After evidence was collected and reviewed, MCSO deputies issued a warrant for Gana\u2019s arrest. He was charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling, which is a third-degree felony.<\/p>\n Gana had his first court appearance on Thursday to set bond.<\/p>\n During the hearing, the resident spoke to the judge, stating that Gana had destroyed a phone in her bedroom, along with belongings meant for her infant son, who is on oxygen, and other items. Later in the hearing, the judge mentioned that the affidavit\u00a0pointed out that the victim reportedly became fearful when she could not get to the oxygen for her son.<\/p>\n When addressing bond, the prosecution requested a cash bond, bringing up Gana\u2019s previous criminal history, consisting of felonies and misdemeanors. Although multiple charges had been dismissed, Gana reportedly has a history of ignoring court orders and, therefore, according to the prosecution, was not someone the court can be confident with obeying future orders.<\/p>\n
