A few days after officially announcing their first batch of non-roster invites to spring training,<\/a> the Red Sox added another Friday.<\/p>\n

Boston agreed to a minor league deal with veteran pitcher Seth Martinez and he will be in big league camp next month, a source confirmed Friday. SoxProspects\u2019 Andrew Parker<\/a> first reported the agreement.<\/p>\n

Martinez, 31, has made 117 big league appearances (all in relief) since debuting in 2021 and spent much of three years in Houston\u2019s bullpen. In total, he has a 4.00 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 144 big league innings. Martinez made at least 29 appearances for the Astros in each season from 2022 through 2024 and pitched especially well in 2022, a year in which Houston won the World Series.<\/p>\n

Martinez\u2019s tenure with Houston ended last November when he was exposed to waivers and he spent time in three organizations (Arizona, Miami and Seattle) during the winter. In mid-March, he was re-claimed by the Marlins, with whom he spent 2025. Martinez logged a 5.40 ERA in six big league appearances (all in the season\u2019s final month) and pitched to a 3.71 ERA and striking out 54 batters in 43 \u2154 frames for Triple-A Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

Martinez seems ticketed for a spot in Triple-A Worcester, where he\u2019ll serve as bullpen depth in 2026. He joins pitchers Osvaldo Berrios, Alec Gamboa<\/a>, Hobie Harris, T.J.
