{"id":398607,"date":"2026-01-10T04:47:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T04:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/398607\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T04:47:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T04:47:19","slug":"maui-police-officers-fatally-shoot-armed-suspect-in-wailuku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/398607\/","title":{"rendered":"Maui police officers fatally shoot armed suspect in Wailuku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old Paia man died after being shot by police officers responding to a terroristic threatening call Thursday night in Wailuku, according to the Maui Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>MPD officials said this afternoon that the man \u201csuccumbed to his injuries at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> His identity was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, police said.<\/p>\n<p>At about 7:27 p.m., the MPD received a 911 call reporting a male armed with a firearm in an open field off Kuikahi Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrived about three minutes later and \u201cencountered the male, who refused to comply with the officer\u2019s commands.
