Constant preparation for different teams can be hard to keep up with, especially when teams play back-to-backs or three games in four days, for example.<\/p>\n

On Friday night, the Celtics<\/a> were getting ready to play the first game of a back-to-back, and they went viral for using an interesting method to prepare for their game against the Raptors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What weird method did the Celtics use to prepare for the Raptors game?<\/p>\n

On X, a video <\/a>went viral of a Celtics assistant coach helping center Xavier Tillman prepare for his game against the Raptors.<\/p>\n

In the video, a fan caught a glimpse of the laptop, which showed a slideshow of the Raptors players with their strengths\/weaknesses shown through NBA 2K badge symbols.<\/p>\n

Those who have played the video game probably can picture what this looks like, but to simplify it, these badges are basically pictures that indicate how good a player is in various on-court abilities and skills.<\/p>\n

Not to say the NBA 2K data isn’t completely accurate, but it’s definitely interesting to see coaches using\/relying on that data to help prepare players for real NBA games.<\/p>\n

Tillman didn’t log any minutes in the Celtics’ 125-117 win over the Raptors, but if this method was used to prepare other Celtics players who did get minutes, it did justice in the end.<\/p>\n

The Celtics will now shift their attention straight to their game against the Spurs <\/a>on Saturday night, as they face a team that’s one of the hottest teams in the league right now.<\/p>\n

If they use badges again to prepare the players for the game against the Spurs<\/a>, it would be interesting to see how they’d prepare Celtics players who were about to face Victor Wembanyama.<\/p>\n
